Director Nam Seong Eun or Linda

There are many reasons not to work for this academy, inclduing:

1. The director doesn't pay on time, pay severance or pension ( she only pays when she's forced to by the labor board, so if you leave Korea after your contract, you don't get it.)

2. The director doesn't provide adequate housing. Often she doesn't pay rent and foreign teachers are evicted every three months. She also doesn't provide any housing supplies as stated in the contract.

3. The director does not give allocated vacation days.

4. The director often uses racial slurs and swear words ( in English and Korean) and often screams at the foreign staff.

5. The director's family are rumoured to be criminals and the police have been called to the academy to resolve violent arguments.

6. The director also harrasses and stalks former employees.

Institute Review
I can vouch for this review. I had an interview with this school and immediately started looking for reviews. I ended up emailing one of the original foreign teachers who helped start up the school. The guy was really honest about it, he said Linda is not that bad of a person. However, he listed pretty much everything in this review about the pay issues, vacations, etc...  severance, and even said she cheated on the taxes. The teacher told me that he thought it was because Linda just started the school and was inexperienced, so made a lot of "mistakes." He said perhaps now after so many years, she would be on top of things. Now reading this review, I guess it wasn't a lack of experience, it is her character.

I am glad I cancelled the interview.

    1. The school pays in full. Communicate your need for priority payment, the parents pay late and sometimes that effects payment timing. It is a business not government subsidized education.
    2. The director provides adequate housing because they own the property and there is no issue with eviction. I heard of the previous teacher's situation above, she had to move and that was inconvenient. I would recommend just asking the director about housing stability and talking with all the native teachers.
    3. The director gives vacation days, ask when, do not assume you can take them when you want, just communicate your intentions and what you would like before signing a contract. The director is friendly and she'll work with you.
    4. The director does not scream, yell, or use swear words.
    5. It's a friendly family business and they share responsibilities in management and transportation.
    6. No Stalking! Haven't been a former employee yet, but couldn't imagine it.
Call the school and ask for a foreign teacher, they'll speak with you.
    The pros
The curriculum is planned, You have a house, you get paid, you have insurance, 1 day of rest for every month worked is the law, learn the law, etc.
