GnB Dongsan-dong Campus, Jeonju City
It has been over two years since I had started teaching at this school. It is a wonderful school, run by a family run where both the Director and his wife both teach at the school. The apartment they provide is very well looked after, if there are any problems everything is sorted out immediately. Wages are paid on time, meaning the day you start teaching you will be paid on the same day the next month. However, if your payday falls on a weekend you normally get paid the next week not before.
The Korean teachers have a very good knowledge of the English Language and are willing to help you with almost anything. Whenever I have made suggestions on teaching methods they incorporate it into their classes to help their students. I have to admit it has been testing trying to understand the way the Korean curriculum works and also the books. The books are not very good as there are a lot of grammatical errors and the levels of the books are not consistent. There are some very unruly students and it can be very frustrating at times when your students do not listen in class, play around lot or fail their tests, but you need to get passed all of that. Saying that I have taught some wonderful students and seen them progress in their English and their confidence from Elementary Level to Middle School and High School. I hope that whoever gets to teaches them next will have a strong will and be very creative in their teaching and reward the students appropriately for their good work.
