Worked 1.30-9.30pm M-W-F/1.30pm-7.30pm T-T I worked at this school for one year. It is a big school and well established. However, do not be fooled. They provide the books (mostly novels and the odd science book) and you may think this is great - the material is there for you.
The director of the school wants you to prepare classroom material (based on the themes in the book) and homework (comprehension questions). You are also expected to prepare monthly tests for the classes, too. Aside from preparation, you have grading to do, too. This is made up of student diaries, student essays and then there's the work you covered in class on top of that.
There are some materials already there which other teachers have used, which helps, but if the books have not been done before, you will have to prepare all of the materials yourself. Another thing is communication is a major problem. They never accept when they are wrong, meaning you are blamed for things that you never knew about or were not involved with.
The school has a history of having "meetings" with foreign teachers where they are shouted at and ripped to shreds. Personally, they called me an idiot for being too thorough (later they told us we not being thorough enough, "looks like you don't care") and they also said to the other teacher, "trying your best is not good enough". They are very rude and disrespectful. Are there any good things about this school?
Never had any problems with pay, always got paid on time. Previous teachers did not have a good experience at this school and neither did I. I stuck it out, only to get my flight money and severance pay. Don't do it, it's more hassle than it's worth.
