JILIN Injoy Education is a cruel business predator whose Chinese employees, who are supposed to work with foreign teachers, are well trained to lie. They never stop manipulating even once you become aware of it; even when you let on that you're aware of their intentions.
This agency changed its name a few times (previously known as ThianShuo Education, Jilin Younovo Education). If you check their location, it's always the same. So, whatever their name is, their address is Room 398, Floor 3, Yatai Avenue 3766, 130041 Changchun, China. They are teacher-hunters which means that they use different ESL platforms in order to find teachers interested in coming to China.
They are used to saying that they are a school, although they are an agency, which means that new teachers coming to China can never know whether and when they will get a full-time teaching job. This is the first shock, as it seems incredible that someone can go so far to lie to you during your Skype interview.
All of the employees involved in the process are incapable of doing what they are supposed to do. As a teacher, you never get certain schedules. There are always some issues with your salary. Many times they send part-time teachers to schools, afterwards calling the teachers to tell them that their lessons got cancelled. This is unpaid and nobody cares.
In addition, even though these people are supposed to work with foreigners, their English language skills are mostly tragic. It happens that you can't explain some basic issues you encounter to them because they are incapable of understanding English (even when you speak slowly). It might happen that they talk in Chinese and laugh at you (in your presence) simply because they know that you are a foreigner who is not obliged to speak Chinese.
If you get a flat, it will not happen without arguing. Sometimes they keep teachers in a hotel for weeks or months. Those flats the agency offers are usually poorly furnished and damp. Plus, I had to pay the agency for my utility bills although I never saw any of them.
According to the agency, it is legal in China to take someone's passport and keep it. Given that it is not legal in China to take someone's passport (in Europe, we usually call it ''human trafficking''), and given that the agency breaks the law by breaking the contracts (all the time), the only answer coming to my mind is that someone backs them up.
Scandal 1: There was a legally hired guy from Africa whose work permit was valid in Changchun. But, he was arrested and deported because of a mistake made by an agency employee. The agency sent the guy to teach in another city although the teacher wasn't allowed to work in the city where the client was coming from. This is one of many examples of how this agency grabs as much as it can, without any sense of dignity, morality and responsibility, as their intention was to earn by charging the client. The agency’s excuse was that they were not familiar with the administrative change.
Scandal 2: In March 2020, during the outbreak of the Coronavirus, a few employees from the agency forced several foreign teachers to sign some documents in Chinese. According to the document, the agency had the right to quarantine those teachers and, thus, the agency put them in a hotel and locked their rooms. Someone from the agency used to bring food on a daily basis and didn't allow the teachers to go out.
There is much more I can say about this ''company''. However, it is important for you not to think: ''Oh, nothing like this could happen to me.'' It could and when something similar starts happening, it's too late. I don’t know if this is the worst ESL agency in China. I want to believe that this testimony can warn some teachers. I wasn't warned, and now I know what it's like. It's difficult to imagine anything worse, but my concern is that there are at least similar predators in this industry. On the other hand, let's expose and mention at least this one.
Wish I could say anything positive about this company.
Guess it is well explained in the Institute Review section.

I was a teacher-contractor (2018-2019). When my contract expired, I didn't want to extend my contract with them although I spent one more year in China.
