I strongly urge you not to waste your time with this dishonest and very unprofessional organisation!
I got offered an interview to work at Shangqiu University. It meant I had to meet up with a company representive called Looi in Shangqiu (a different town from where I were at the time, Zhengzhou), so I had to get the train to get to it, which I accepted. When I got to Henan University, me and Looi met the hiring teacher from the university and another foreign teacher. It all went very well, Looi and the teacher from the university told me that they were so happy I accepted the offer to come and work at the university in September (it was towards the end of February at the time) and I was very happy to be given the chance.
When me and Looi were coming back to the train station he promised me, he would send me a contract via email the next and he asked me to sent the relevant documents like resume, copy of my passport, visa and so on. The pay for the job was 12,000 yuan a month with free housing and teaching 20 hours a week which was good at the time for a university job.
The next day come and Looi sent me a contract with the terms and conditions but my name wasn't on it, he asked me if I was happy to join the organisation and I accepted. He then asked me to get the relevent documents like visa, copy of passport and so on which I did and he promised me he would get the paperwork sorted. A week later I sent Looi a Wechat message because I hadn't heard from him after I sent him the relevant documents. He replied to me, "Sorry for rsponces late, I was busy recently. I will talk to you soon." I replied, "It's okay, I understand." because I didn't want to pressure him and rock the boat in my new job. A week goes by and he's still not spoken to me, so I sent him another email. No reply from Looi. I waited 10 more days (it's now towards the end of March) Looi still didn't reply to me (I am getting worried but I didn't want to rock the boat). There was still no reply from Looi so I sent him a Wechat message a few weeks later (we're in the middle of April now) and Looi finally replied to me by saying, "I transfered to another department, I will give you the details of the person you need to contact." Which he then did, her name was Mirabelle.
I then spoken to Mirabelle via Wechat and she told me that she will get in contact with the university to sort out and offical contract. She replies to me later that afternoon to tell me that the university don't want me but they can offer me another position at a different university or school. I was open to the idea but disappointed in the professionalism of the university. I contacted Shangqiu University and told them that I felt it was very unprofessional to offer me a position but to then change your mind. The university told me that they want me to work for them but it's the agency Henan Chengxin Overseas Affairs Service that changed their mind about me. The university said they are happy to employ me themselves but it would be 8000 Yuan a month as opposed to 12,000 yuan a month. I understood the universities position but I thought it was very unprofessional of the agency to offer me a job and then change their minds and to just ignore me for two months. The agency offered me a job at Zhengzhou University for 8000 yuan a month but I just couldn't take them up on the offered because they lied to me and I knew that there was nothing stopping them for deceiving me again.
The really frustrating part was that I wasted time and money on the train fare and taxis and what really hurt me the most though was that a different university offered me a job in February and I turned that down so I could work for Henan Chengxin Overseas Affairs Service and I missed that boat thanks to them. I know you're probably thinking why I wasn't more pressuring from the start, I just didn't want to rock the boat and I myself don't like to be pressured when I am really busy. I now know I made a mistake with it all. I just don't want anyone to make the same mistakes as me and waste their time with this organisation. I have got emails and Wechat messages as proof of this happening.
Thanks for reading this review
Very unporfessional and very deceitful!
