Institute Review
The school is poorly funded with no classroom tools for teachers to use to teach the class. This includes not only electronic equipment, but proper books with supplementary materials. No supply closet, very bare-bones and cost-cutting everywhere you turn. Absolutely crushing amounts to work needed to properly conduct all the classes per week. Expected to work Sat*r*ays on occasion and attend Sunday church services which means they come up with obligations for you, 7 days a week at times. Every single day there is 1 hour chapel in the morning, and a total waste of time. Once a week is plenty, but five days a week is ridiculous, that time is needed to prep for classes. Two-week summer and winter camps are mandatory, one week overnight religious retreat to start each semester is also mandatory. Students turn in piles of summer/winter break book reports you are also obligated to read, grade, input. You really never actually have your own free time to do anything. The pay doesn't come anywhere near to match the job expectations.
The pros
They let you go home and sleep a few hours before you are up again for basically another 17 hour shift of work, curriculum design, homework correcting, data inputting,
The cons
For a "Christian" school, they absolutely fall way short of treating people with the expectations they are followers of Jesus Christ. The adult staff can be unfriendly and standoffish, and the students range from good to needing a sound spanking. There is no discipline plan, and some of the classes are beyond control. The institution has been open for 14 years and is so disorganized, you'd swear they just opened up the doors yest*r*ay. There are so many problems, you wonder how they could have ignored them for so long and still stay open for business.
Advice to Management
In all honesty, you should shut down for 6 months to a full year. Walk through a good school, then take out a notebook, walk through your own school, and write down every possible thing wrong with it. What is there that needs improvement, and what is missing. Spend that year organizing every book and lesson plan and actually buy material and equipment the teachers need to do their job. Sell one of your luxury cars to help pay for your own school, and take the bus like everyone else does, invest, sacrifice, and humble yourself. Get your top people to stop going home every day after chapel. Get in there and teach a class, help with discipline, talk to the students, get to know your own staff, be part of your investment and stop running away every day at 10am to go home and sleep.
